Noriko Yamamoto is a master of Japanese ceramics who creates vessels from a Japanese clay body and ash glaze produced from locally harvested wood. Each one is wheel thrown gracefully thin, and finished lightly with fine black iron crystals for a subtle texture. The chemical composition of the clay and glaze is unique to a region near Kyoto. Minerals like iron and magnesium fuse with the ceramic material to provide different colors and surfaces.

Due to the nature of the material, patinas of red and purple-brown undertones occur over time.
