Helen created this Brown Swimmer piece especially for Ashes & Milk as part of the Swimmers Cup Collection. Refined and yet playful at the same time, these are a perfect addition to your own natatorium.
Minimal and simple in appearance, the ceramic surface treatment is quite involved and labor intensive. Helen first creates a vessel from porcelain on the pottery wheel, which she fires herself and places an exquisitely detailed painting on. Each stroke is carefully placed to represent the rosy cheeks, pinky skin, green swimmers cap and blue fabric of the bathing suit. The painting is then fired onto the porcelain with a protective clear glaze finish.
