Helen created this Blue Wing Bird piece especially for Ashes & Milk as part of the Bird Cup Collection. Refined and yet playful at the same time, these are a perfect addition to your own aviary.
Minimal and simple in appearance, the ceramic surface treatment is quite involved and labor intensive. Helen first creates a vessel from porcelain on the pottery wheel, which she fires herself and places an exquisitely detailed painting on. Each stroke is carefully placed to represent the multicolored spotted feathers on the wing, tail, head and downy brown chest. Note the details of the feet. The painting is then fired onto the porcelain with a protective clear glaze finish.
