This seems more like his interpretation of the tree rings rather than an imprint of the rings. The tree is the model. I tried this with a cherry wood stump and it didn't work! somehow the rings are raised enough to be transferred to paper, i wonder if hemlock dries like that of it he did it??? it’s not simple!
