Helen created this Apricot Belly Chickadee piece especially for Ashes & Milk as part of the Bird Cup Collection. Refined and yet playful at the same time, these are a perfect addition to your own aviary.
Minimal and simple in appearance, the ceramic surface treatment is quite involved and labor intensive. Helen first creates a vessel from porcelain on the pottery wheel, which she fires herself and places an exquisitely detailed painting on. Each stroke is carefully placed to represent the browny-black feathers on the wing, tail, head and downy apricot chest. Note the delicateness of the feet. The painting is then fired onto the porcelain with a protective clear glaze finish.
